Yesterday I wasn’t really expecting I’d go book shopping. But because I was too stressed from a recent breakup, I went to Powerbooks in Trinoma and grabbed two books. The intention was never to buy books, because I am short on cash and next payday is not before two weeks more. And so I went there to read and while away the time.
So I got to read Maya first, a book written by Jostien Gaarder, the same writer who brought us bestseller Sophie’s World. I so love that book that I think I would love everything Gaarder would write. But Maya is not as great as Sophie’s World and I decided not to buy it — for the meantime — after reading the the first 28 pages. Maybe I would get a copy after sometime, when my cash would allow me. And so I went to the fiction section and scoured every book I found interesting. And I found this little treasure, On Becoming a Fairy Godmother by Sara Maitland. It’s a collection of wonderful prose about womanhood. I read the first story about an encounter with a little mermaid, and it definitely got me hooked. So I bought it. I walked to the counter and bought it. Then on my way out of the bookstore I saw the deck of inspirational books from Andrew Matthews — yes the phenomenal writer of Happiness in a Nutshell. I used to have a copy of that little inspirational pocketbook when I was in high school. I lend it to a friend and she never returned it. Amf. Anyhoo, having wanted to have one of Matthews’ new books, I approached the book stand with so much excitement. I grabbed Happiness Now, a signed copy of Happiness Now. What? Isn’t that a happies? =”> So without thinking twice, I went back to the counter and paid for it. I even got a 10% discount on my next inspirational book buy. Sweet. =”> And then this afternoon I met up with my bestfriend Louis. And guess what he got me for my birthday? Yes, my first Harry Potter book! He got me the seventh HP book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Am a die-hard Harry Potter fanatic since eight years ago. I got to read all the six books, without akshully buying one. I haven’t read the last book because I don’t know who to borrow it from. And I can’t do so much reading these busy days. So there, I am so much excited to finish my three new books. I still have a lot of unread books in my shelves, I got to read them too before the termites feed on them LOL =b
Hello there beautiful Thursday! I have not been updating for a while, there’s too much going on with my health, my lurvelife, my finances and my work that I just can’t take even a 5minute breather. There’s a lot of stuff to do at work, but always – always – each day seems to be insufficient to address all the demands from work, and from life in general. And yes, most people complain about not having a day longer than 24hrs. If you could just imagine a world where sleeping is not needed, and procrastination has never existed, then it would be a very productive and effective world. But oh well — that one has not existed since time immemorial LOL so we have to — yeah — just deal with it. Anyhoo, the idea came to me when an officemate arrived in the office 2hrs early for her shift. I asked why she’s early and she replied with “Daming trabaho eh”. I dunno. Last month I had a morale reducer when I computed my hourly rate — because I’ve read from soewhere that computing for your hourly rate would help to give you a new (hopefully better) perspective. Unfortunately, the figure wasn’t favorable. But it gave me a new light — do not work overtime. I know that’s lame because people who want to make a good name in their respective careers work hard as they can, as long as they can. They do this every day, in and out the office hours. That’s just too tiresome — just the thought of it stresses the hell out of me. And then I had this realization — why not be productive without really killing yourself in the process? Why not appreciate every hour, make sure you make the most of it, you finish your deliverables and you address demands using only the paid hours of your life? Then overtime wouldn’t be necessary, right? You don’t need to stay in the office for 15 friggin hours a day just to get tired by then end of it, yet producing less than you should have? Mkay, I think I have to try that. And if it works, I would have to stick to it. So there, I’m gonna go back to work and kick ass! Until next post. = )

I don’t know.
It’s been two or three weeks that I have this 1 friend request pending in my FB account. Yes this is the guy I am not comfortable with at work. I removed him from my friends list when he started speaking ill of me, in a backstabbing way. He would get at me by posting indirect accusations and whatnots. Then when he noticed that I had removed him, he added me back.
Now, every time I would approve other pending friend requests I would see his face on the pending list and always it would let me think again if I should add him back to my friend list. If I do, that would mean a chance for him to freakin’ audit my friggin’ Facebook activities - one of the biggest reasons why I removed him in the first place. But I still have this old little hope that maybe — just maybe – he would change and everything would be okay, that we would have the chance to rebuild our friendship and all, you know.
But I don’t trust him. Not anymore.
And that is really something you don’t want to say in your life.
One disadvantage of doing your banking online is you can akshully dip into your savings account anytime you need to because it’s just one click away. And I have fallen victim =(
Two days ago I freaked out when I realized how little money is left in my savings account. I have been transferring funds frequently with this thing in mind — I won’t run out of money because I have saved pretty well. And that was a total BS! Because now.. the word I dread the most — I’m broke.
So I have to remodel my budgeting scheme, eh? I would try this Zero Budget where every peso of my income is pre-allocated. I can’t wait for the next payday so I can try it. Also, I would open a time deposit account to lessen the risk of having my savings to zero out =( And yeah, TD accounts have greater interest rates.
*Sigh*
