Described as a type of cancer that is closely associated with asbestos exposure, this disease is considered almost a rarity with approximately 3,000 new instances every year in the US. Majority of the damage associated with mesothelioma was between 1970 up to 1990 where most of the documented cases were in men. This form of cancer allows the malignant cells to form on the internal organ’s protective lining where it affects the lungs, the chest, and the abdomen. In some cases, Mesothelioma forms a sac around the heart which hampers its normal operation. This cancer however is still in the upswing in some parts of Europe.
