Without doubt science has played a very vital role in the process of most criminal investigations starting with fingerprinting in the latter part of 19th century followed shortly by the application of ABO blood typing principle by the start of the 20th century. Then during the 60s HLA or Human Leukocyte Antigen typing was the leading tool in personal identification. However, the value of this kind was limited to little fraction of samples only.
Ultimately in the 80s, investigators were able to solve almost implausible exploits in identification. In particular, DNA testing has done a great deal in connecting evidence collected from the crime scene to the suspect. With this method and technique and with technology innovation, identification and in the process, solving crimes has never been easier.
