I said I'll quit writing.. Well, I was lying then.

Which way does she turn?

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Oh well, found this forwarded email from my old yahoomail account.

If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain.  If you see it her tuning the other way, you are using left brain.  Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.

See if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain’s current.
BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN.

Experimentation has shown that the two different sides or hemispheres of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking. The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:

Left Brain                    Right Brain
Logical                          Random
Sequential                     Intuitive
Rational                         Holistic
Analytical                      Synthesizing
Objective                       Subjective

Looks at                       Looks at
parts                             wholes

Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking.  Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain activities. Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity.

I saw her turn both ways. May cheat. Heh!

when i first saw this, i thought the image just has a specific time to shift turn. at first glance though, i see it turning clockwise. oh well, so much for food for the brain. wala bang coffee for the brain? ahehe…

haller! clockwise kaya yan! i think ung mga nakakakita na counterclockwise yan eh mga sira ang ulo at talagang dmage na ang brain! nagpapaniwala naman kayo ahihhihi~:D

nung first time ko makita yung spinning image, i thought it spinned clockwise lagi. then later on nakita ko na sya both ways. reminds me of an illusion of the 3-D wire box, you can view it either as facing southwest or facing northeast.

Posted by perryv at July 3, 2008, 7:05 pm

in-analyze ko mabuti yung illusion ng spinning girl, napansin ko yung movement ng kanyang “raised leg” vs. “standing leg”. i-imagine nyo muna na “nag-stop” yung pag-spin ng girl. at nung nag-stop yung pag-spin nya, ang position ng “raised leg” nya ay nasa left side na ng body nya. focus on that position for a moment. since puro “shadow” lang naman yung girl, you can imagine the actual position of the legs in two ways:

A) the “raised leg” is in front, the “standing leg” is at the back.
B) the “raised leg” is at the back, the “standing leg” is in front.

hehe, nung una akala ko umiikot sya ng 12 times counter, then 12 times back. Hehe I counted, akala ko daya tong pic. Pero sinunod ko yung tip ni @sarah. Amazing, I think the direction can be changed at will. :) Try ko pa experiment a number of times…

Posted by Ardee at July 4, 2008, 7:04 pm

I can change the direction at will :) What I do is stare at the top area (darker area), then suddenly shift your gaze to the bottom area (lighter area), then she will change direction. Hehe try it para malaman ko na hindi ko ito guni guni

Ang tagal kong pinagpraktisan to. Phew. Nashishift ko na siya pero hindi completely at will. Kailangan ko pa talagang magblink.

maybe, i’m just stupid. One way lang tlaga.

Posted by ayel at July 12, 2008, 10:24 pm

at first glance, I saw her in a counterclockwise motion. moving my focus at the bottom part, the motion then turned into the other way. amazing but i cant return the motion from clockwise to counter unless i glance at something, then the motion will go back to counter, as always…weh
