And because internship and freelance works are eating me alive, I barely have time to blog. As of my last post, I have already ranted about not having time for blogging.
Now, I ask myself with this: Why do I blog?
I remember Dean Alfar's talk during the iBlog3 Summit last early April, where I first met Des and Sasha in person. He said people blog for two apparent reasons: first, they want to be read and they want to have a loyal audience; second, they want to monetize their blogs. Sometimes, people who want to have loyal readers also affiliate themselves with online money making programs and for them, the money they generate from their blogs are just bonuses of good traffic.
So where am I then?
As far as I can remember, I started blogging since September 2004. My agenda then was to have an online journal that will serve as an abode for my hard feelings, morbid thoughts and quirky ideas. But it didn't happen that way. Nobody's reading that blog, -yeah, write! powered by Blogspot.com- and there's nothing to read there anyway. So I dropped the idea of blogging my thoughts (because I am not having very good thought then, too) until March last year. This is when my Pink Urinal breathe to life. What pushed me to start blogging again was my frustration regarding the UP Parser Editorial Exam 2006. And it was alive for ten months, and this time, it already have a couple of readers or so.
I can't remember exactly why I grew tired of Blogspot that I've decided to leave it and transfer to another blogging service. I signed up for free accounts in Wetpaint, Freewebs, I.ph, etc. etc that I can't remember anymore. And then I settled with I.ph. Why? Because of cool templates! 
Am not still knowledgeable about web designs and templates then. So I was really attracted to I.ph, oblivious that in the near future I can be able to make my own cool templates! Hehe!
Then here comes Pink Urinal at I.ph. When I started blogging here in I.ph, I know already where i want my blog to go and what I want it to become. I want real readers, sensible and intelligent. I want loyal readers and commentators. And when traffic is better, i want to monetize my blog for some extra dough.
I always wanted to be heard. I always wanted my opinion to count. And I always wanted to write. So aside from my personal blog, I've decided to have a literary blog (which I have already launched but still has no content) in hope that some people out there will take interest in my works and will hire me for some writing opportunity or something like that or will offer publication of my works (hehe, just dreaming with eyes wide open).
So going back to my question 'Why do I blog?' (I have departed from the topic, have you noticed? hehe..), I was thinking if I was able to fulfill my blogging goals. Which are what again? Oh, I haven't told you yet? It's simple. I just wanted to write and I want people to read my works. That's it!

i used to blog to release my anger and frustration. anything that i feel is to heavy to bear. but then having to read all over again makes me feel stupid. so i ended up leaving that journal and going for a new host. but i didn’t erase it. hahaha! and, it wouldn’t hurt if i wanna earn with my blog entries so yeah, gaining a bit of profit as well. which is good…
it doesn’t matter whatever your reason is…. as long as you’re doing what you really want to do… writing.

Kaya naman, habang nagpopost tayo para sa sarili natin at para narin sa mga mahal nating readers, magpapayaman na rin tayo at the same time.. bwahaha! *joke*

it’s always an interesting question…why we blog.
blogging is great avenue for self-expression.
getting published online and having your ideas validated by other bloggers, nothing beats that feeling.
and monetizing blogs is a good idea, i’m all for it… it depends on the blogger how he/she presents the ads to the readers… the thoughts, ideas and writing style still belong to the same blogger anyway, it’s up to the readers to come back reading the blog, monetized or not.

I was very much impressed since this is the first entry I’ve read and already, Im a fan.
I asked the same question to myself once when my best friend asked me why I spend so much time blogging (last time I had an even more difficult task of blogging since the whole site including the templates and the graphics were all designed by moi)?
Frankly, I only had one reason for blogging.
At one point in your life, all your friends would be doing something and wouldn’t be able to attend to your needs as a companion. And that is where the availability of the blog comes in. A friend whose always there to support you in times of grief or rejoice with you in times of victory or success 24/7.
Pictures that comes with the blog somehow gives the writing better justification since we’re not limited to the imaginations of the mind.
Enough said since i think this comment has reached it’s limits in terms of length. But I’ll just wrap this up by congratulating you for candidly stating the reason why we bloggers blog in the first place.
